The context menu offers all the possibilities to work with a file or applications by right-clicking.
While the best Windows software can add many useful functions to the context menu, there are even more useful commands we can add manually to make it even better.
You can get it all by right-clicking, opening a custom command line, specific applications, or some useful system settings to do it all in a snap.
If you want to declare the context menu before adding anything new, just read the message Delete Windows context menu and follow the instructions to activate the right mouse button.
Setting the context menu under Windows 10
For the configuration of the context menu, many Windows programs are available, which I have linked below for simplicity. I have chosen a tool called Simple Context Menu to show you how to edit, and everything in the context menu.
- First download the Easy Context Menu archive file from the Sordum website,
- You will find two executable files, one for Windows 64-bit and one for Windows 32-bit, one of which can be executed depending on your system.
- You don’t need to install anything, because a simple context menu is a portable tool that runs directly,
Changing the context menu
- You will see the options where you want to add new options, for example
- Desktop context menu
- Diskette context menu
- Context menu for a folder
- Folder context menu
- Context menu supplement
- You can add all available options wherever you want, because all the options in the context menu are arranged correctly. Your context menu does not inflate because these options are displayed in the right place.
- To add an item to the shortcut menu, check the box next to the item, select as many as you like, remember to save and check whether or not the items have been added to the shortcut menu.
To save the changes, press CTRL + S or select the plus icon from the top panel.
Custom context menu
You have now added the default context menu options that are immediately available in the simple context menu tool, but what if you want to add your own context menu option or start new utilities from the context menu?
Open the list editor by pressing CTRL + E or select the gear symbol from the top control panel,
You can now add your own custom context menu items
- Select the Item menu under which you want to add a new item. You can even create a new group by selecting the Add Submenu option and adding your own entries.
- Now click the button to add a new file from the bottom and select the .exe file you want to run when you select this item from the context menu.
- You can pass an option to select this item to perform a specific task based on this value, of course you can change the title and icon of this item in the shortcut menu.
You can even edit all offered context menus to your liking,
The list editor allows you to set an option that only appears when you open the context menu by pressing the Shift key, or you can adjust the position of an item in the menu (top, middle, bottom).
Delete context menu
One of the great features of the tool is that you can even remove some items from the existing context menu,
Open the cleaner in the competition menu by pressing CTRL + X or select the broom symbol in the top bar,
In ContextMen Cleaner you can see all enabled and disabled items in the context menu,
To deactivate one of the useless items, just turn this item off, you can even delete this item after you have turned it off, close the window and save the progress by pressing CTRL+S.
